Sahiwal consumer portal enters phased release

Bill viewing goes live first; payments follow next quarter.

The consumer self-service portal for Sahiwal Water Utility has begun its phased release, starting with bill viewing.

Why phased

The portal is the first system the utility has exposed directly to consumers. Rather than launch the full feature set at once, we are releasing capability by capability so support load stays predictable.

Phase one covers sign-in against the connection record, current and historical bill viewing, and the twelve-month consumption chart. Online payment and billing queries follow next quarter.

Built on the billing API

The portal is not a second application with its own database. It reads through a read-focused API on the existing billing system, so a bill shown to a consumer is the same record the counter staff see.

That decision removed an entire class of synchronisation bugs before they could exist.

Designed for entry-level devices

A large share of consumers browse on inexpensive phones over mobile data. The interface is server-rendered, ships minimal JavaScript, and the consumption chart is inline SVG rather than a charting library.

First-load weight is a deliberate constraint that we test against on every change.
