FieldTrace enters beta with two utility deployments
Offline-first field capture, tested where the signal actually drops.
FieldTrace is now in beta with two utility operators running live reading cycles on it.
Built for bad conditions
Field applications are usually tested in offices. FieldTrace was tested on the routes it is meant to serve: entry-level Android devices, patchy 3G, and readers wearing gloves in poor light.
Every capture writes locally first. Sync is a background concern, not a precondition. If a device goes a full day without a connection, nothing is lost and nothing needs re-entering.
Conflict handling
The part that took longest was not offline storage but conflict resolution. When two readers record against the same connection, or a reading is amended centrally while a device holds an older copy, the app surfaces the conflict for a human decision.
It never silently discards a field entry. That rule shaped most of the sync design.
What beta covers
The beta includes reading capture, photo evidence with GPS stamping, configurable inspection checklists and route assignment. Reporting and supervisor review tools follow in the next milestone.
We are accepting a small number of additional beta deployments.
